OK... so I kinda like this blogging thing. I like the fact that I can
just plop down some general thoughts without needing a real reason.
Today in church Pastor Bob talked about "moral anchors", you
know those folks in society that do their best to slow the degradation
of societies general morality. It was a brilliant sermon and it made
realize who important it is to always be evaluating myself and my walk
with God. In his sermon Bob referenced a verse...
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like
a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man
suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a
double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Which reinforces the point that God makes so clearly earlier in the Bible when He stated...
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
These verses demonstrate that we do have our own will and we do have
the ability to thwart God's will for us. None of this really has much
to do with Bob's sermon about moral anchors but its interesting none
the less.
